Located in Orange, the gateway to Provence, next to the famous village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, summer residence of the Popes in the past, the “Domaine des Chanssaud” has been existing since 1826.
Nowadays, Patrick JAUME runs the estate streching over 46 hectars ( around 100 acres ) and produces wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône which are the right expression of the soil and climate of this part of the Southern Rhône Valley.
A modern winery was founded in 1995. With a capacity of 2500 Hl of wine and 700 Hl storage in underground tanks, it has modern facilities that allow vinification under the best conditions.
The Vineyard covers 46 Ha : 20 Ha of Châteauneuf du Pape and 26 Ha of Côtes du Rhône.
Among the 13 varieties that make up our name, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre for red wines and white Grenache and Clairette for white wines predominate.
The old cellar vault became aging cellar, a place of friendly tasting, full of freshness, which combines tools from the past and future wines.
A third of the production of Châteauneuf du Pape red pass an aging year in casks. Then the wines, assembled, are bottled at the winery by a specialized company which guarantees quality and hygiene, and allowing precise control of operations. Bottles packed in boxes are then storedin an air-conditioned room where they remain until age marketing.
