Domaine Parazols-Bertrou is located in Bagnoles and borders the appellations Minervois and Cabardes, in the wine-growing region of Languedoc, only 12 km northeast of Carcassonnes famous for de La Cité de Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Béatrice and Jean-Marie Bertrou bought in 2003 an old family winery that they all have restored The lovingly designed estate is located in an idyllic setting with maquis bushes and pine trees. The vineyards with a total surface area of 20 hectares are located in both appellations. The grape varieties are traditionally for South France: Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Syrah and Grenache (minervois) but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (cabardès). For the white wines they use Viognier and Roussanne (Pays d'Oc). The clay-like limostone ensures sufficient water, also during the hot summer. The modern cellars guarantee a flawless vinification. Not far from the winery in the scenic Conques-sur-Orbiel is a small wine museum. See all wines have apart from a regional character, also a stunningly good value for money.
