Vignobles des 3 Châteaux, Languedoc

Located at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, on a clay and limestone terroir, our vines are at the same time under the influence of the mediterranean and continental climates. Therefore, bathed by the sun, the vines still do not suffer from the excesses of the mediterranean climate: temperatures are lower than Montpellier's (located only about 20 kilometers away) by an average of 2 degrees; rainfall is more abundant: over 900mm per year, with sparse but intense episodes; the wind pushes the clouds away, naturally supporting very good health conditions in the vineyards. Finally, the thermic amplitude reaches record levels in the area over the grape maturation period, during the summer: high temperatures during the day but much fresher during the night, allowing the development of supple tannins of a rare finesse.

Since 1950, the “Coteaux du Pic” winery produces and exhalts grapes from an atypical terroir: Pic Saint Loup. In the heart of this wild country with an exceptional micro-climate, the “Coteaux du Pic” winery has established itself in the area as a pioneer in terms of responsible viticulture, all the while meeting the demands of the market in terms of modernization. Perfectly equipped to produce a whole range of wines, the winery has owned its wine-bottling line since the 1980s, a major asset attesting to the authenticity and traceability of its production. New, fully automatized vinification tanks installed in 2010 allow for a more and more rigorous selection of grapes and a winemaking process fully in line with the expectations of our clients. These new installations ensure the traceability of our production as well as its authenticit.

Aware of its responsibility in preserving a rather unique terroir, the “Coteaux du Pic” winery has been careful since the beginning to develop its activity in harmony with its environment. A facility for treatment of effluents has been built as early as 2000, followed by the creation of a group of wine growers working in accordance with a green, sustainable viticulture (“lutte raisonnée”). In February 2009, the “Coteaux du Pic” were again at the forefront in terms of environmental awareness by becoming the first winegrowers' cooperative in the Languedoc-Roussillon region to be equipped with photovoltaic panels. In 2013 the first cuvées of organic wines are being produced.
